Hand Reflexology helps Violinist.

Mr R is a 61-year-old concert violinist who was recommended by his GP to see me having fallen from his bicycle one month earlier causing injury to his hands. He was therefore finding it difficult to move his fingers properly and to practice playing his violin. Mr R was particularly concerned he would be unable to perform in a forthcoming concert.
On examination, I could see the little fingers on both hands were stiff with both thumbs and forefingers sore and dry. In the fall he had also hurt his neck and left arm. These were still aching and impacting his ability to play. Mr R brought along his violin to show me his technique and how dexterous he needed to be with his fingers.
I suggested we try hand reflexology together with use of Bowtech products at home to support and maintain the healing process. Reflexology is a natural healing therapy given as a treatment over areas on the body called reflexes. These reflexes relate to the person’s physiology and promote health and well being. In addition to the area of reflexology itself, the movement of the thumb technique used over the reflexes stimulates blood and lymph circulation, increases mobility of the joints and improves the tone of the muscles, tendons and skin. In my experience, I have also found hand reflexology to be invaluable for problems such as long standing aches and injuries to the arms and neck.
The products recommended for home use were Bowtech Ease, an ayurvedic aromatherapy blend designed to reduce stiffness and pain; and Bowtech Lectric Crystals for a bath or hand bowl soak to soften the skin and also ease pain in the joints.
Mr R had weekly sessions for six weeks. Each time, I worked diligently on his fingers to help them feel supple and included the reflexes for his neck and arms. In my practice I use intuition and sound reflexology, a method which I have developed myself over many years. I am able to use sensitive finger pads to feel the vibration of reflexes that need balance and then find the corresponding sound by intuition. Intuition is often regarded as the sixth sense where a person is aware that a situation is right.
On one occasion I linked the shoulder and neck reflexes with the tone ‘oh.’ Mr R felt the sound travel up his left arm to his shoulder and settle in the shoulder blade. He felt this session had been most satisfactory. He continued to use the ayurvedic blend and crystals bath soak daily, then every other day as his hands got better. By the end of the course, his fingers and arms were nimble enough to play his concert and he felt confident he would continue to improve as the months went by. He continued with monthly treatment sessions, gradually reducing to bi-monthly.
He did say that he had restored technical facility in his left forefinger as it had been very painful to put pressure on to the string. He was very grateful for my help in this case.
